Summer surrounds us with Fishing, Hiking, Biking, Canoeing, Rafting, Swimming and Boating. State boat launching sites are on most lakes. All are within minutes from Charlies Inn, Restuarant & Bar.

Fishing - The Adirondacks is a fishermans paradise! Cold mountain streams and rivers are abundant with Brook Trout, Browns, and Rainbow Trout and the deep lakes are loaded with the same plus Landlock Salmon and Kokanee. A 32 pound Lake Trout (NYS Record) was caught outside Lake Placid. The warmer lakes offer good fighting Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth, Walleye, Northern Pike and a variety of panfish such as perch, sunnies, etc.
Hiking - There are so many trails to hike in, in the Adirondacks Mountains. Some are close to Charlies Inn such as St. Regis Mountain. And do not forget the 46 High peaks. All over 4000 feet high with Mount Marcy being the tallest in New York State with an elevation of 5332'. The views are absolutely breathtaking!
Canoeing - There are 26 navigable rivers, many streams and brooks and over 2500 lakes and ponds in the Adirondacks. Two large ones are The Saranac Chain of Lakes, and the St. Regis Wilderness Canoe Area. Many lakes and ponds offer short portages that allow for wonderful day trips.
Birdwatching - There are over 250 species of birds in the Adirondack Park due to the diversity of habitat. Our year round residents are Juncos, Chickadees, Woodpeckers, Hawks, Blue and Gray Jays, Owls and the Finches. The Loons, Blue and Gray Heron, Bluebirds, Orioles, Ospreys, and Bald Eagles are our summer residents.
Golf - There are 6 Eighteen Hole Golf Courses in the Saranac Lake Area and one nine holer. All are open to the public and provide wonderful challenges! The Saranac Inn Golf Course is very close to Charlie's Inn.
